Gouqi Island, China
This island was once the hub of a fishing industry that supported its inhabitants. However, over time, communities moved on to other trades, people left the villages and the once-popular homes and buildings were left to fend for themselves. Over time, the forest retook its land. Vines and shrubs inhabit the buildings, completely covering the structures. In some places, it is difficult to tell where the houses end and where the hills begin.
